FELTS

Used for a wide variety of applications, including -in converted (cut) form- oil retention in electric motors and seals in domestic tumble driers, technical wool felt is manufactured using 100% wool or a blend of wool and other fibres.

Felt can be manufactured using 100% wool or a blend of wool and other fibres. The wool fibres comprises of raised scales which lock together when processed. The duration of this process dictates the firmness, (density), of the finished product. The final stage consists of drying the felt under tension to ensure that the thickness and width are maintained.

In general the rolls are 1.8m in width and are available in thickness ranging from 1.0mm to 25mm with densities from 0.11 - 0.55gm/cm3. Higher density material is available in sheet form.
